Does God hear the prayers of the wicked and unrepentant Christians?
Proverbs 1:27-29 When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you, 28 "Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me. 29 Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord,(NKJV)
John 9:31 "Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.(NKJV)
Does God hear the prayers of the wicked and those of unrepentant Christians? What do you think?
Proverbs 15:29 The Lord is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayers of the righteous.(NKJV)
James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.(NKJV)
Prayer without repentance may have a zero outcome.
Psalm 34:15-16 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. 16 The face of the Lord is against those who do evil...(NKJV)
1 John 3:22-23And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.(NKJV)
Prayer is conditional.
Psalm 145:18-19 The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. 19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear their cry and save them.(NKJV)
The Lord will save those who call upon Him in truth. Absolute truth is found in the Bible and the Bible alone.
1 John 1:9-10 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.(NKJV)
Christians need to repent and confess their sin to secure forgiveness.
The repentant Jewish tax collector was forgiven because he confessed he was involved in sin. The Jewish Pharisee went away still in his sins because he prayed without admitting he needed to be forgiven.(Luke 18:10-14)
